Business
FREYR Battery, Inc. FREYR Battery, Inc. WT develops and produces next-generation lithium-ion battery cells and solar modules for energy storage systems, electric vehicles, marine applications, and commercial mobility; its core offerings include 24M SemiSolid™ technology batteries, high-energy density lithium iron phosphate cells, battery modules, packs, integrated storage solutions, and 5 GW capacity solar modules produced at its G1 Dallas facility in Wilmer, Texas. Founded in 2018 and originally headquartered in Oslo, Norway with a pilot production line in Mo i Rana, the company operates across Europe and the United States, leveraging renewable energy sources for low-carbon manufacturing while targeting automotive OEMs, utilities, and large-scale energy users. In late 2024, FREYR Battery completed the acquisition of Trina Solar's U.S. solar manufacturing assets for $340 million, closed the deal in December 2024, and shifted strategic focus to vertically integrated U.S. solar and battery storage production, including plans for a 5 GW solar cell facility with construction targeted for mid-2025; it cancelled its $2.6 billion Georgia gigafactory project in February 2025, terminated its 24M technology license, sold the Georgia site, relocated headquarters to Austin, Texas, and rebranded as T1 Energy Inc. in February 2025 with forthcoming ticker change to TE, optimizing for U.S. Inflation Reduction Act incentives and domestic supply chains.
