Fidelity SAI U.S. Treasury Bond Index Fund (FUTBX) is a mutual fund that seeks to provide investment results corresponding to the total return of the Bloomberg U.S. Treasury Index. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its assets in debt securities included in the Bloomberg U.S. Treasury Index, which comprises U.S. Treasury bonds and notes; it uses statistical sampling techniques based on duration, maturity, interest rate sensitivity, security structure, and credit quality to replicate index returns with a representative portfolio of securities. Launched on March 1, 2016, the fund is part of Fidelity Salem Street Trust, managed by Fidelity Management & Research Company LLC, with headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts; it operates primarily in the United States, targeting investors seeking intermediate-term government bond exposure with high credit quality and moderate interest-rate sensitivity. The fund maintains a dollar-weighted average maturity of one year or more and a sizable cost advantage, featuring a net expense ratio of 0.03%, positioning it in the least expensive fee quintile among peers; top holdings include United States Treasury Notes and Bonds with low coupon rates such as 0.01625%, 0.0125%, and 0.02375%, collectively representing over 9% of the portfolio. Assets under management stand at approximately $8.85 billion, with nearly 100% allocated to U.S. government bonds and minimal cash equivalents. Recent management changes include the appointment of Mark Lande effective October 1, 2024, and Van Eswara effective October 1, 2025, alongside longstanding portfolio manager Brandon Bettencourt since inception. The fund continues to track the Bloomberg U.S. Treasury Index amid evolving interest rate environments, delivering a year-to-date return of 1.88% and a 12-month return of 5.81% as of late 2025, with no reported acquisitions, partnerships, or structural reorganizations in the past 1-2 years.
