Business
Global Beta Rising Stars ETF (GBGR) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to track the performance, before fees and expenses, of the Global Beta Rising Stars Index, comprised of equity securities of U.S.-listed companies selected from the S&P 500 exhibiting strong growth characteristics and multi-factor attractiveness in areas such as momentum, quality, value, and low volatility; the fund targets mid-cap growth stocks, particularly those weighted by a proprietary multi-factor scoring model focused on technology and other high-potential sectors. Issued by Global Beta ETF Trust and managed by Global Beta Advisors, LLC, the ETF provides investors with targeted exposure to rising stars within the U.S. equity market through passive index replication, with shares trading on the NYSE Arca exchange. The fund operates primarily in the U.S. market, serving institutional and retail investors seeking factor-based growth strategies. Founded in 2016, Global Beta Advisors maintains its headquarters in North Wales, Pennsylvania, and oversees a suite of factor-focused ETFs under the Global Beta ETF Trust, including previously offered products like the Global Beta Smart Income ETF (GBDV) and Global Beta Low Beta ETF (GBLO). The firm emphasizes lower-valuation factor investing across equity markets, leveraging metrics such as price-to-sales, price-to-book, and price-to-earnings ratios to guide portfolio construction. In a significant operational change, the Board of Trustees of Global Beta ETF Trust approved the liquidation and closure of GBGR, along with GBDV and GBLO, in July 2022 due to insufficient assets under management amid industry competition and fee pressures; trading ceased on August 22, 2022, with shares delisted thereafter and remaining shareholders receiving cash proceeds based on net asset value around August 29, 2022. No notable partnerships, acquisitions, funding rounds, or new product launches involving GBGR have been reported since its inception around 2021. The ETF's assets stood at approximately $838,000 prior to closure, reflecting its niche focus within the competitive ETF landscape.
