- G J Steel Public Company Limited G J Steel Public Company Limited (GJS.BK) manufactures and distributes hot-rolled coil steel products and downstream steel items in Thailand. The company produces hot rolled coil; tempered hot rolled coil; hot rolled pickled and oiled coil; and other value-added steel products including slit coils, cut-to-length sheets, and formed steel sections primarily serving steel pipe manufacturers, construction firms, and re-rollers for cold-rolled and galvanized products. It operates an electric arc furnace-based integrated steel mill, positioning it as one of Thailand's major scrap recyclers with low carbon emissions, and supplies materials mainly to domestic markets while expanding exports to Europe and ASEAN countries.
Founded in January 1994 and headquartered at 88 Paso Tower, 24th Floor, Silom Road, Suriyawongse, Bangrak, Bangkok, Thailand, the company maintains production facilities in Chonburi spanning 800,000 square meters with approximately 680-815 employees. Formerly known as Nakornthai Strip Mill Public Company Limited, it changed its name to G J Steel Public Company Limited in June 2008 and lists on the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
Nippon Steel Corporation, which acquired majority stakes in G J Steel (57.60% directly and indirectly) and related entity G Steel Public Company Limited (collectively G/GJ Steel) in March 2022, continues to bolster operations by deploying key personnel in production, sales, maintenance, and finance. In August 2024, G/GJ Steel committed to a 1.5 billion baht capital investment to install new skin pass equipment at G Steel for enhanced hot-rolled steel finishing and inspection, streamline scrap yard operations, and improve scrap management systems across both entities, aiming to boost quality, cost competitiveness, and profitability. These initiatives, funded partly through loans from Nippon Steel's Thai subsidiary, support expansion into high-strength structural steel and environmental certifications like carbon footprint verification from Thailand's Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, alongside planned facility revamps over the next three years.
