Global X Genomics & Biotechnology ETF (GNOM) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to provide investment results corresponding generally to the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the Solactive Genomics & Biotechnology Index. The ETF invests in a portfolio of global companies positioned to benefit from advances in genomic science, including those deriving significant revenues from gene editing; genomic sequencing; genetic medicine and therapies; computational genomics and genetic diagnostics; and biotechnology tools and instrumentation. Top holdings as of recent data include Alnylam Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ALNY), CRISPR Therapeutics AG (CRSP), Natera Inc. (NTRA), BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. (BMRN), and BioNTech SE (BNTX), representing key players across pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and life sciences sectors comprising approximately 99% of the portfolio. Launched on April 5, 2019, and listed on the Nasdaq, GNOM is managed by Global X Management Company LLC, a subsidiary of Mirae Asset Global Investments (USA) Inc., with headquarters in New York. The fund maintains approximately 40 holdings, with net assets under management of around $59 million, a total expense ratio of 0.50%, and semi-annual distributions. Geographically, it offers exposure primarily to U.S.-based companies (about 82%), alongside allocations to the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, and China. In recent developments, the ETF has benefited from momentum in genomic medicines, with regulatory approvals driving forecast sales growth at a 39% compound annual growth rate from 2024 to 2030, amid innovations like scalable cell-based manufacturing techniques that could reduce production costs by up to 95%. Global X, the ETF's provider, continues platform expansion through new thematic launches such as the Gold Miners ETF in December 2025, while managing portfolio adjustments including the complete removal of Scilex Holding Co (SCLX) shares in mid-2023; no major acquisitions, funding rounds, or structural changes specific to GNOM have been reported in the last 1-2 years. The fund targets institutional and retail investors seeking thematic exposure to the intersection of healthcare, biotechnology, and genomics innovation worldwide.
