- Gujarat Pipavav Port Limited Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd (GPPL.NS) operates India's first private sector all-weather port at Pipavav on the southwest coast of Gujarat near Bhavnagar, providing comprehensive marine and cargo handling services including container handling with capacity up to 1.35 million TEUs annually, dry bulk cargo handling of approximately 4-5 million MT per annum encompassing coal, cement, clinker, fertilizers, steel, iron ore, agri-products, salt and soda ash, liquid bulk cargo handling of around 2 million MT per annum covering LPG, POL, chemicals, vegetable oils and bitumen, and RoRo services for vehicle exports; additional offerings comprise berth hire, wharfage, yard operations, stevedorage, pilotage, towage, storage, buffer yard facilities, container freight stations, inland transportation solutions for empty containers to North India, rail-out by bill of lading, direct port delivery, customs examination and data/door turning services. The port, incorporated in 1992 and headquartered in Mumbai with primary operations in Gujarat, serves hinterland markets in northwest India and connects to global trade routes linking the US, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Far East via efficient rail and road infrastructure. APM Terminals, a subsidiary of A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, acts as lead promoter holding 44.01% stake and majority operator under a concession agreement with Gujarat Maritime Board extending to September 2028. In October 2025, the company signed a Rs 17,000 crore MoU with Gujarat Maritime Board for port expansion and modernization, incorporating new liquid cargo berths, mechanical bulk handling systems, advanced container terminals, digital operations and sustainable infrastructure to boost container, bulk, liquid and RoRo capacities while creating 25,000 jobs; in September 2025, GPPL secured a five-year contract with ONGC for marine support and storage facilities to establish an offshore oil and gas logistics base; additionally, in late 2024, it entered a 25-year power purchase agreement with CleanMax for hybrid wind-solar energy to enhance sustainability and reduce carbon footprint.
