Business
Greaves Cotton Limited (GREAVESCOT.NS) is a diversified engineering company that manufactures fuel-agnostic powertrains, engines, gensets, electric vehicles, farm equipment, and aftermarket spares and services; it provides end-to-end mobility solutions including electronic motion control systems, EV financing through its subsidiary Greaves Finance Limited, retail and distribution via Greaves Retail, and engineering technologies through Greaves Technologies. The company operates primarily in the engines segment (diesel, petrol, CNG from 1.5 HP to 700 HP for automotive, non-automotive, agricultural, construction, and marine applications), electric mobility (two- and three-wheelers such as Ampere Nexus, Magnus Neo, Eltra City XTRA, and cargo vehicles), gensets (diesel generators from 2.5 KVA to 500 KVA, CPCB IV+ compliant), power tillers, pumpsets, construction equipment, and renewable energy solutions; it also offers digital ecosystems connecting consumers, partners, and service providers across the mobility value chain. Founded in 1859 and headquartered in Mumbai, India, Greaves Cotton maintains a strong presence across India with over 200 distributors, 8,000 retail stores, and 20,000 mechanics, while exporting spares to countries including Sri Lanka and Bangladesh through subsidiaries like Greaves Electric Mobility, Greaves Finance, Greaves Retail and Distribution, Greaves Technologies, and Greaves Engineering. In recent developments, Greaves Cotton approved a Rs 22 crore investment in wholly-owned subsidiary Greaves Finance Limited via rights issue in September 2025 to bolster EV retail financing and capitalize borrowings, maintaining 100% ownership; the company launched its GREAVES.NEXT five-year growth strategy on November 6, 2025, emphasizing energy, mobility, and industrial solutions alongside reclassification of senior management personnel. Greaves Electric Mobility achieved milestones including Eltra City XTRA's national record of 324 km on a single charge in July 2025, Ampere Nexus named Electric Scooter of the Year 2025, entry into battery swapping with Indofast Energy in March 2025, and partnerships such as with Chara Technologies for rare-earth-free motor technology in April 2025; it also secured EMPS scheme incentives, partnered with Shriram Finance for three-wheeler adoption, and expanded financing collaborations with River Mobility, ACKO, and Eqaro Surety. Additional strategic moves encompass Greaves Retail unveiling electric light construction equipment at bauma CONEXPO India 2024, Greaves Engineering's CPCB IV+ gensets launch, and ongoing subsidiary appointments including Parag Satpute as Managing Director & Group CEO in April 2025 and Vikas Singh as Managing Director of Greaves Electric Mobility in June 2025.
