Business
WisdomTree Target Range Fund (GTR) is an actively managed exchange-traded fund that seeks capital appreciation with a secondary objective of hedging risk through a systematic options strategy. The Fund implements a cash-secured call spread approach modeled after the TOPS Global Equity Target Range Index, purchasing one-year 15% in-the-money call options and selling one-year 15% out-of-the-money call options on a diversified basket of underlying equity ETFs, including SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY, 50% target), iShares Russell 2000 ETF (IWM, 20%), iShares MSCI EAFE ETF (EFA, 20%), and iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (EEM, 10%); collateral is allocated primarily to fixed income securities such as U.S. Treasuries and cash equivalents. Options positions are reset annually in January or earlier upon monthly restrike events if an underlying ETF exceeds its short call strike, aiming to limit potential annual downside losses to the net options premium while capping upside participation within a target range of approximately +/-15% adjusted for costs, expenses, and collateral yield. Launched on October 7, 2021, and domiciled in the United States with shares listed on NASDAQ, the Fund targets investors seeking balanced global equity exposure across U.S. large-cap, small-cap, developed international, and emerging markets segments, with operations managed from WisdomTree's headquarters in New York, New York. WisdomTree Investments, Inc., the Fund's sponsor and a global provider of exchange-traded products founded in 1985, oversees approximately 57 million in assets under management for GTR as of mid-2025, with an expense ratio of 0.70%. The Fund distributes yields derived from collateral income and option premiums, quoted at a distribution yield of 2.32% and SEC 30-day yield of 2.40% as of July 2025. In recent developments, WisdomTree completed the acquisition of Ceres Partners, LLC, for $275 million on October 1, 2025, enhancing its alternative investment capabilities and product suite amid expanding defined outcome ETF strategies. The Fund maintained steady operational focus through 2025 market volatility, with Q1 performance reflecting cumulative returns since inception of 0.42% on a NAV basis amid global uncertainties. No major product launches or strategic shifts specific to GTR were reported in the last 1-2 years, though parent-level integrations like the Ceres deal support broader risk-managed equity offerings.
