Business
Gulf Oil Lubricants India Limited is a leading Indian manufacturer, marketer, and trader of automotive and non-automotive lubricants and specialty oils. The company offers a comprehensive product portfolio that includes automotive lubricants for two-wheelers, passenger cars, and commercial vehicles; industrial lubricants such as hydraulic oils, turbine oils, bearing and circulating oils, and slideway lubrication oils; specialty oils including marine lubricants, EV fluids, and AdBlue; and valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) batteries for two-wheelers. Operating across India and exporting to over 25 countries, Gulf Oil Lubricants India serves diverse segments including automotive, industrial, marine, infrastructure, and agriculture. Founded in 1961 and headquartered in Mumbai, the company holds a strong market position supported by partnerships with over 20 leading OEMs and a wide distribution network. In recent years, Gulf Oil Lubricants India has made significant strategic advances, including a major partnership with Nayara Energy to distribute its full range of automotive lubricants and AdBlue across more than 6,500 fuel retail stations nationwide. It also entered a long-term strategic partnership with South Korea’s S-Oil Corporation to launch the S-Oil Seven lubricant brand in India, leveraging advanced technology and OEM approvals. The company has expanded into the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem through its subsidiary Tirex Transmission, an EV charger maker, where it increased its stake to 65% following strong revenue growth. Gulf Oil continues to launch premium and co-branded products, such as with Tata Motors, and focuses on accelerating growth via its "Unlock 2.0" initiative aimed at premium product leadership and future-readiness. Gulf Oil Lubricants India was recognized in 2025 as one of 'India's Best Managed Companies' by Deloitte India, reflecting its sustained business model and strategic execution excellence. These developments highlight Gulf Oil Lubricants India's ongoing efforts to expand product offerings, deepen market penetration in automotive and industrial segments, and strengthen its presence in the emerging EV infrastructure market. The company's diverse product range, strategic partnerships, and operational expansions establish it as a key player in the lubrication and specialty chemical industry in India and beyond.
