Business
Cao Son Coal Joint Stock Company - TKV is a Vietnam-based mining enterprise primarily engaged in the open-cast extraction, processing, and distribution of anthracite coal. The company operates through several core business segments, including Coal Mining and Processing, Mechanical Engineering and Repair, Material Trading, and Support Services. Its primary products and services include thermal-grade anthracite coal in various commercial specifications, including lump coal, fines, clean coal, and raw run-of-mine coal for power generation, metallurgy, and industrial heating; maintenance, overhaul, and repair services for heavy mining machinery, transport vehicles, and specialized excavation equipment; trading and distribution of industrial spare parts, electrical supplies, mechanical equipment, and scrap materials; and ancillary operations encompassing electricity distribution within mine complexes, site preparation, haul road construction and maintenance, and industrial premises leasing. The company distributes its coal output primarily to domestic thermal power plants, cement producers, and fertilizer manufacturers under the coordination of its parent entity, Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin), which maintains a majority controlling interest. Operating predominantly in the Quang Ninh coal basin, the company's mining assets are centered in the Cam Pha region of Vietnam. Originally tracing its operational roots to 1974 and restructured in August 2020 through the merger of Cao Son Coal Joint Stock Company and Tay Nam Da Mai Coal Joint Stock Company, the enterprise is headquartered in Cam Pha, Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam. In recent developments, the company officially transferred its listing from the UPCoM exchange to the main board of the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) under the ticker CST in February 2025. Operationally, the company concluded extraction activities at the Khe Cham II mine upon license expiration at year-end 2024 to transition into environmental rehabilitation, consolidating its active extraction focus on the deepening and expansion projects of the central Cao Son open-pit mine alongside automated conveyor upgrades and heavy equipment fleet modernizations.
