Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) is a government-owned corporation primarily engaged in providing long-term finance for housing and urban infrastructure projects across India. HUDCO finances a wide range of infrastructure projects including commercial infrastructure (market complexes, shopping centers, hotels, office buildings), social infrastructure (health, education, community centers), and integrated area development schemes. Founded in 1970 and headquartered in New Delhi, HUDCO operates nationwide, partnering with government bodies, urban local bodies, and private sector entities. In the last 1-2 years, HUDCO has signed several significant memorandums of understanding (MoUs), including partnerships with the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) to execute construction projects in states such as Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat, and Delhi; with the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) to provide up to Rs 11,300 crore for metro, housing, and infrastructure projects supporting capacity building; with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA); and during India Maritime Week 2025. The company has launched new housing schemes like the HUDCO Nav Nagar Yojana and Rent-to-Own schemes and demonstrated a strategic expansion in funding commitment by agreeing to invest up to Rs 14,500 crore for housing and urban infrastructure projects in Gujarat. HUDCO continues to adapt its service offerings to include sustainable urban development and affordable housing finance, maintaining a strong emphasis on social and environmental responsibility. These developments collectively strengthen HUDCO’s position as a key financier and consultant in India’s housing and urban development sectors.
