Business
International Baler Corporation (IBAL), a subsidiary of Avis Industrial Corporation, manufactures and sells baling equipment that compresses various materials into bales for handling, shipping, disposal, storage, and recycling; the company offers general purpose horizontal and vertical balers for compaction of paper, corrugated boxes, and miscellaneous solid waste materials, as well as specialty balers including scrap metal, drum crusher, textile, and double chamber balers for processing textile materials, used clothing, aluminum cans, 55-gallon drums, and synthetic rubber. It provides accessory equipment such as conveyors to carry waste to horizontal balers, extended hoppers, rufflers to break up material, electronic start/stop controls, hydraulic oil coolers and cleaners, fluffers, bale tying machines, and plastic bottle piercers, alongside service and repair work for general purpose and specialty balers. International Baler markets its products through a sales force, manufacturer's representatives, and dealers to waste-producing retailers, manufacturing and fabricating plants, bulk material producers, solid waste recycling facilities, synthetic rubber and polymer manufacturers, plastic and paper recycling facilities, textile and paper mills, power generating facilities, cotton gins, supermarkets, other retail outlets, and municipalities across the United States, Europe, the Far East, South America, and other international markets. Founded in 1946 and headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, the company changed its name from Waste Technology Corporation in March 2009. In recent years, Avis Industrial Corporation completed the acquisition of the remaining 18.9% interest in International Baler in May 2022, taking full ownership; the company now operates as part of Avis's Recycling & Waste Equipment Division, formed to integrate International Baler with American Baler Company and Harris Waste Management Group for enhanced operational efficiency, shared best practices, standardized processes, and broader customer solutions including shorter cycle times for new units and parts; additionally, in 2025, Dave Kowaleski, president and general manager of American Baler, announced retirement effective June, prompting organizational changes within the division while Roger Griffin continues as president and general manager of International Baler.
