Business
Principal Investment Grade Corporate Active ETF (IG) is an actively managed exchange-traded fund that seeks to provide current income and, as a secondary objective, capital appreciation by investing, under normal circumstances, at least 80% of its net assets, plus any borrowings for investment purposes, in investment-grade corporate bonds and other fixed-income securities rated BBB- or higher by S&P Global Ratings or Baa3 or higher by Moody's Investors Service; the fund employs a risk-based macro outlook for portfolio positioning, targeting alpha generation and risk mitigation in the inefficient investment-grade corporate bond market, with holdings including senior unsecured notes from issuers such as Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, PNC Financial Services, and Micron Technology, alongside sector allocations to banking, technology, consumer non-cyclical, communications, and energy. Launched on April 18, 2018, and sponsored by Principal Asset Management, a unit of Principal Financial Group headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa, the ETF trades on the NYSE Arca exchange with a net expense ratio of 0.19%, monthly dividend distributions, an average effective duration of approximately 6.8 years, and total net assets of around $149 million as of December 2025. It benchmarks against the Bloomberg U.S. Corporate Investment Grade Bond Index and serves investors seeking low-cost exposure to U.S. dollar-denominated, taxable corporate bonds across maturities from industrial, utility, and financial issuers. In a recent strategic update announced on December 14, 2025, Principal Asset Management plans to rename the fund to Principal Investment Grade Corporate ETF and transfer its primary listing from NYSE Arca to Cboe BZX, with both changes effective on or about April 21, 2026, as part of a standard review of its exchange-traded product lineup. The fund maintains active management by portfolio managers Jon Curran, CFA (27 years of experience), and Steffany Young, CFA (17 years of experience), with approximately 221 holdings, a 1-year standard deviation of 4.6%, and a 30-day SEC yield of 4.87% as of late 2025.
