- iShares North American Natural Resources ETF (IGE) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to track the investment results of the S&P North American Natural Resources Sector Index, which comprises North American equities in the natural resources sectors, including energy, energy equipment and services, oil, gas and consumable fuels; materials, construction materials, containers and packaging, metals and mining, paper and forest products. The ETF primarily invests at least 80% of its assets in the component securities of the underlying index or in instruments representing those securities, with up to 20% in futures, options, swap contracts, cash and cash equivalents; it holds approximately 133 equities, with top positions in companies such as Chevron Corp., Exxon Mobil Corp., ConocoPhillips, Enbridge Inc. and Newmont Corp., representing diversified market capitalizations across growth and value stocks. Launched on October 22, 2001 and domiciled in the United States, the ETF is issued by iShares Trust and managed by BlackRock Fund Advisors, a subsidiary of BlackRock, Inc., with headquarters in New York.
The fund targets investors seeking exposure to U.S.- and Canada-listed natural resource companies operating in upstream, midstream and downstream segments of energy and materials industries. It distributes dividends quarterly, maintains an expense ratio of 0.39% and had assets under management of approximately $592 million to $600 million as of late 2025. Geographically, the ETF focuses on North American markets, primarily the United States and Canada.
