iShares MSCI India ETF (INDA) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to track the investment results of the MSCI India Index, which comprises large- and mid-capitalization Indian equities representing approximately 85% of the free float-adjusted market capitalization of the Indian securities market. Managed by BlackRock Fund Advisors under the iShares brand, INDA provides investors with diversified exposure to the Indian equity market across sectors including financials, energy, information technology, consumer discretionary, and materials; top holdings typically include HDFC Bank Ltd., Reliance Industries Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd., Bharti Airtel Ltd., and Infosys Ltd. The fund invests at least 90% of its assets in the component securities of the underlying index or in investments substantially identical to those securities, with an expense ratio of 0.62%. Launched on February 2, 2012, INDA is domiciled in the United States and listed on the NYSE Arca exchange, primarily targeting institutional and retail investors seeking emerging market exposure to India's growth economy. The ETF operates globally, with primary investments focused on Indian companies listed on the National Stock Exchange of India and Bombay Stock Exchange. Recent quarterly rebalances of the MSCI India Index, including the May 2024 adjustment that added 13 stocks and deleted 3 to reach a total of 146 constituents, have refined INDA's portfolio composition to better reflect evolving market capitalization and liquidity criteria. The index undergoes quarterly reviews and semi-annual rebalances, ensuring ongoing alignment with India's dynamic equity landscape. While INDA itself has not undergone structural changes such as mergers or new product launches in the past 1-2 years, BlackRock as the sponsor completed the acquisition of Global Infrastructure Partners in October 2024, enhancing its broader infrastructure investment capabilities that indirectly support ETF offerings like INDA through improved origination and global market access. Dividend distributions continue semi-annually, with the latest ex-date on December 17, 2024, reflecting stable operational performance amid India's economic expansion.
