Incorporated in 1984 as a private limited company and converted to public limited status in 1986 as a joint venture between Lucas Indian Service Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lucas-TVS Ltd, and MAHLE Electric Drives Japan Corporation, a member of the MAHLE Group, the company is headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, with manufacturing facilities in Hosur and Puducherry; Lucas Indian Service Limited holds a majority promoter stake of around 70%.
