Business
Isofol Medical AB (publ) (Nasdaq Stockholm: ISOFOL) is a Sweden-based clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing innovative folate-based drug candidates to enhance the efficacy of standard chemotherapy treatments for patients with severe forms of cancer, particularly metastatic colorectal cancer; its primary product candidate is arfolitixorin (previously known as Modufolin), a next-generation, direct-acting folate compound that delivers higher concentrations in tumor tissue compared to existing folates, thereby improving 5-FU-based therapies without requiring metabolic activation. Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Gothenburg at Biotech Center, Arvid Wallgrens Backe 20, the company operates internationally with a focus on oncology pharmaceuticals, targeting solid tumors through ongoing clinical trials including Phase Ib/II and Phase III studies for advanced colorectal cancer, and maintains strategic collaborations with partners such as Solasia Pharma K.K. for development and commercialization in Japan, Recipharm, and Merck & Cie. Recent developments include a successful fully guaranteed rights issue in 2025 raising approximately SEK 85 million before potential over-allotment, the completion of share transfer to Solasia Pharma following the rights issue in September 2025 which strengthened their partnership for arfolitixorin trials in Japan, Solasia's announced commitment in April 2025 to invest around 140 MSEK in upcoming Phase II and III trials and regulatory submissions in Japan for metastatic colorectal cancer, a new collaboration agreement with Charité Universitätsmedizin in Berlin for further clinical development, the European Patent Office's intention to grant a new patent for arfolitixorin extending protection into the 2040s, an updated visual identity and website launch in 2025, and participation in investor events such as Redeye Life Science Day in December 2025 alongside publication of its Q3 2025 interim report.
