Business
Intervacc AB (publ) is a Swedish biotechnology company dedicated to advancing animal health through the discovery and development of innovative vaccines against bacterial infections. The company leverages a proprietary technology platform centered on recombinant proteins to create safe and effective preventative solutions. Its primary commercial offering, Strangvac, is a vaccine for equine strangles, a highly contagious streptococcal infection affecting horses. Strangvac is approved across the European Union, the United Kingdom, and other European markets, with active distribution in numerous countries and aspirations for broader international reach, including the United States. Intervacc recently extended its significant distribution agreement with Dechra Pharmaceuticals for Strangvac by two years. Beyond its flagship product, Intervacc maintains an active research pipeline, including INV274, a vaccine candidate targeting Streptococcus suis infections in piglets, a project that has received Eurostars 3 grant funding. The company also previously pursued a vaccine candidate, INV412, against Staphylococcus aureus infections causing mastitis in dairy cows, though this project has been paused. Supplementing its vaccine development, Intervacc operates through subsidiaries such as Nordvacc Läkemedel AB, which markets and distributes veterinary pharmaceuticals and vaccines across Nordic and certain European markets, and Mybac-Vettech AB, an ISO-certified laboratory providing specialized diagnostic services in veterinary bacteriology and mycology within Sweden. The company has successfully secured substantial financing through a recent rights issue to fuel its growth initiatives, including the acceleration of Strangvac sales and the progression of its pipeline. Intervacc is headquartered in Hägersten, Sweden.
