Business
Nuveen Multi-Market Income Fund (NYSE: JMM) is a diversified, closed-end management investment company that seeks a high level of current monthly income consistent with prudent risk to capital. The Fund primarily invests in a range of debt securities, including U.S. agency and privately issued mortgage-backed securities, corporate debt securities, and asset-backed securities; at least 65% of its total assets are invested in securities rated investment-grade or of comparable quality at the time of purchase. It may also utilize derivatives such as options, futures contracts, interest-rate swaps, total return swaps, credit default swaps, and related options on swaps; the Fund employs leverage to enhance returns. The Fund operates within the fixed income markets of the United States, targeting income-focused institutional and individual investors seeking exposure to multi-sector bond portfolios across diversified sectors. It is managed by Nuveen Fund Advisors, LLC and Nuveen Asset Management, LLC, subsidiaries of Nuveen, a global investment manager headquartered at 333 West Wacker Drive, Chicago, Illinois. Formed on December 30, 1988, and formerly known as American Income Fund, Inc., the Fund is domiciled in the United States and trades on the New York Stock Exchange. Recent developments include the ongoing declaration of monthly dividends, with the latest announcement on December 1, 2025, of a $0.029 per share distribution payable on December 31, 2025, to shareholders of record on December 15, 2025, reflecting an annualized yield of approximately 5.7%. While the Fund itself has not undergone major mergers, acquisitions, or strategic shifts in the past 1-2 years, its sponsor Nuveen completed a merger of certain preferred securities closed-end funds in September 2025 and announced a majority interest acquisition in Ally Energy Solutions by its Private Equity Impact team in late September 2025. Nuveen continues to expand its closed-end fund platform, managing $52 billion across 45 CEFs as of June 30, 2025.
