Business
JPMorgan Income ETF (JPIE) is an actively managed exchange-traded fund that seeks to deliver attractive income with lower volatility through opportunistic investments across a broad spectrum of fixed income markets and sectors, including agency mortgage-backed securities (MBS), commercial MBS (CMBS), asset-backed securities, high-yield and investment-grade corporate bonds, non-agency MBS, emerging markets debt, and non-dollar denominated securities; it employs a flexible allocation strategy to adjust to changing market conditions and targets monthly distributions. Launched on October 28, 2021, and domiciled in the United States with a net expense ratio of 0.39%, the ETF is managed by J.P. Morgan Asset Management, part of JPMorgan Chase & Co., headquartered in New York, and leverages the expertise of a global fixed income platform overseeing more than $965 billion in assets with a team of over 300 professionals across multiple locations. As of late 2025, JPIE maintains assets under management exceeding $5 billion, an average duration of approximately 2.3 years, and top holdings concentrated in government National Mortgage Association (GNMA) pass-through securities and Federal National Mortgage Association (FNMA) obligations. Recent portfolio adjustments reflect a strategic shift toward higher-quality securitized debt amid compressing credit spreads and weakening corporate fundamentals, with securitized assets rising to roughly 73.7% of the portfolio (including 33.9% agency MBS and 14.7% CMBS) as of August 2025, while high-yield corporate exposure declined to a historical low of 12.5% from over 30% in mid-2021; investment-grade credit allocations also trimmed slightly to 2.4%. The fund earned a Morningstar Gold Medalist Rating on December 16, 2024, and an overall three-star Morningstar rating, underscoring its risk-adjusted performance that has outperformed multisector bond peers since inception with lower volatility, a 6.1% dividend yield, and top-quintile SEC yield of 6.4% as of November 2025. In response to elevated interest-rate volatility and the Federal Reserve's rate-cutting cycle, managers dynamically shortened duration to 2.3 years by September 2025 while maintaining emerging markets debt at 4.9% for diversification benefits.
