Business
Upholdings Compound Kings ETF (KNGS) is an actively-managed exchange-traded fund that seeks long-term capital growth by investing in securities selected through proprietary research to identify companies capable of compounding cash flows at rates exceeding the S&P 500 Index over multi-year periods. The Fund primarily targets equity securities of medium- and large-market capitalization companies in the United States and China, primarily via Hong Kong-listed securities; it also allocates to other international and emerging markets, real estate investment trusts (REITs), business development companies (BDCs), convertible securities, preferred stocks, and exchange-traded funds (ETFs), applying the same cash flow reinvestment analysis across these asset classes. Upholdings may hold U.S. government securities, bonds, cash, and cash equivalents for defensive purposes; the Fund maintains a non-diversified portfolio of approximately 30 securities, selling holdings to secure gains, limit losses, or redeploy into higher-potential opportunities. Originally launched in 2020 as the first U.S. hedge fund to convert into an ETF structure under the leadership of founder Robert Cantwell, the Fund is sub-advised by Upholdings, a firm established in 2019 and based in Nashville, Tennessee. In a significant recent development, Upholdings Group LLC announced the liquidation and de-listing of the KNGS ETF, with trading ceasing on the Cboe BZX Exchange by late 2024, marking a major operational closure following evaluation of its strategies amid market conditions.
