KraneShares Global Carbon Strategy ETF (KRBN) is an exchange-traded fund that provides investors with exposure to the performance of the S&P Global Carbon Credit Index, tracking the most traded carbon credit futures contracts from major cap-and-trade programs. The fund invests primarily in futures contracts and linked notes on European Union Allowances (EUA), California Carbon Allowances (CCA), Washington State Carbon Allowances (WCA), United Kingdom Allowances (UKA), and Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) allowances; it also holds collateral such as cash equivalents, money market funds, and the KraneShares Sustainable Ultra-Short Duration Index ETF for liquidity and low-risk management. KRBN offers quarterly distributions, has a total annual operating expense ratio of 0.90%, and trades on the NYSE with net assets exceeding $181 million as of late 2025. The ETF, formerly known as the KraneShares Global Carbon ETF, was launched in July 2020 and is managed by KraneShares, an asset management firm founded in 2012 and headquartered at 280 Park Avenue, 32nd Floor, New York, NY, with additional offices in San Francisco and London. KraneShares operates globally, focusing on ETFs targeting China, climate, and alternative assets for institutional and retail investors seeking low-correlation strategies in compliance carbon markets. In early 2025, KraneShares expanded KRBN's availability by launching a European ETC version on the London Stock Exchange, alongside existing listings on Borsa Italiana and Deutsche Börse Xetra, building on its original 2020 partnership with Climate Finance Partners (CLIFI) to pioneer the first U.S.-listed liquid carbon ETF.
