Founded in 1980 and headquartered in Chandigarh, the company operates a 450 TPD paper mill across 259 acres at the foothills of the Shivalik Range, utilizing agricultural residues such as wheat straw, sarkanda grass and bagasse alongside wood chips, veneer waste and bamboo from social forestry, enabling self-sufficiency through 365 TPD pulping capacity, a 700 TPD chemical recovery plant, 38 MW biomass-based cogeneration power and a chlorine dioxide plant for ECF-compliant production. Kuantum Papers serves over 100 dealers pan-India, primarily in northern and eastern states, and exports to more than 30 countries including clients like Walmart, McGraw Hill, Kokuyo, Pearson and Oxford University Press, generating 85% domestic revenue. Recent developments include the completion of a INR 444 crore backward integration project in March 2021, expanding pulping to 365 TPD, adding chemical recovery and boosting EBITDA margins through cost efficiencies and reduced imported pulp reliance to under 5%; ongoing capacity upgrades to 675 TPD across four machines with INR 735 crore capex partially deployed; and "Project Nirmaan" launched with BTG for AI-driven process control following "Project Neev" in 2023, alongside technical collaborations with Tanovis AG for lignin precipitation and Specialty Minerals Inc. for an onsite PCC plant.
