Business
Lenzing AG, headquartered in Lenzing, Austria and founded in 1892, produces specialty cellulosic fibers from certified sustainable wood sources for the global textile, nonwovens, fashion, hygiene, home textiles, technical textiles, packaging, filtration, medical, and industrial sectors; core products include wood-based viscose fibers, modal fibers, lyocell fibers such as TENCEL™ and LENZING™ Lyocell Dry (fine and coarse variants), filament yarns, VEOCEL™ Viscostar trilobal premium viscose, LENZING ECOVERO™, dissolving pulp, and engineering services, marketed to over 1,000 brands worldwide with primary sales in Asia (59%), Europe (28%), Americas (9%), and Austria (3%). The company operates production sites in Austria, the Czech Republic, Indonesia, Thailand, the United States, United Kingdom, and Brazil, including subsidiaries such as Lenzing Biocel Paskov, Lenzing Fibers GmbH, and Lenzing Technik GmbH, employing approximately 7,700 people. In August 2024, Suzano S.A. acquired a 15% stake from B&C Group, forming a long-term syndicate with B&C retaining control and an option for Suzano to increase to 30% by 2028, enhancing pulp supply and competitiveness; Lenzing refined its strategy in September 2025 to prioritize premiumization, nonwovens expansion, hygiene and industrial applications, and EUR 100 million investments through 2027 in Austrian sites for capacity shifts and innovation. Recent initiatives include a November 2025 EUR 15 million investment to expand VEOCEL™ Viscostar capacity at Lenzing for hygiene (feminine care), November 2024 launches of new LENZING™ Lyocell Dry fibers for improved strength, softness, airflow, and non-plastic applications, and September 2025 solar power partnerships with VERBUND to boost renewable energy alongside existing hydropower and wind agreements.
