In late 2024, Lilium's German subsidiaries Lilium GmbH and Lilium eAircraft GmbH entered self-administration insolvency proceedings amid funding challenges, terminating employee contracts on December 20; signed an asset purchase agreement on December 24 with Mobile Uplift Corporation GmbH, backed by European and North American investors, to acquire operating assets for an expected early January 2025 closing subject to creditor and court approvals, enabling business restart with planned employee rehiring and €200 million investment injection; creditor committee approved the deal by early 2025, positioning the subsidiaries to exit proceedings, while Lilium N.V. initiated winding-up processes.
