Lithium Power International Limited, a subsidiary of Salar de Maricunga SpA—a wholly-owned entity of Chile's Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile (Codelco)—focuses on the identification, acquisition, exploration and development of lithium assets in Chile and Australia. The company holds interests in the flagship Maricunga lithium brine project, spanning 1,125 hectares of mineralised ground in the Salar de Maricunga within Chile's Atacama Region and recognised for its high-grade lithium resources at approximately 1,167 mg/l lithium; the Greenbushes and Pilgangoora projects in Western Australia; and the Tabba Tabba project in North-west Australia, targeting lithium brine and hard-rock spodumene deposits for potential production of battery-grade lithium carbonate. Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Sydney, Australia, it serves the global electric vehicle and energy storage markets through these operations in the Lithium Triangle and Australian lithium provinces. In March 2024, Codelco completed its A$385 million acquisition of the company via a scheme of arrangement at A$0.57 per share, followed by delisting from the ASX on March 15, 2024, marking a strategic shift to state-backed development of the Maricunga project under Chile's National Lithium Strategy.
