Business
Lynas Rare Earths Limited engages in the exploration, development, mining, extraction, and processing of rare earth minerals primarily in Australia and Malaysia. The company operates the Mt Weld mine and concentration plant near Laverton in Western Australia; a rare earths processing facility in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia; and the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant in Gebeng, Malaysia, producing separated rare earth oxides including light rare earths such as lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, and neodymium; heavy rare earths such as samarium, europium, gadolinium, terbium, and dysprosium; and a mixed heavy rare earth compound known as SEGH containing samarium, europium, gadolinium, holmium, dysprosium, and terbium. These products serve high-technology applications in electronics, electric vehicles, wind turbines, magnets, catalysts, and medical imaging. Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Perth, Western Australia, Lynas targets global markets outside China with ethically sourced materials. In 2025, the company raised A$750 million through an equity placement to accelerate its Towards 2030 strategy, optimizing Lynas 2025 capital investments, expanding downstream capacity, adding resource scale, and pursuing partnerships in metal and magnet supply chains including a memorandum of understanding with Moveon Magnetics for a traceable U.S. rare earth magnet supply chain.
