Business
Migros Ticaret A.S. operates as a leading retail company in Turkey, specializing in the sale of food, beverages, consumer durables, and other household goods through a multi-format retail network. The company’s core product offerings include a wide assortment of food products such as fresh fruits and vegetables, processed and semi-processed meat products, pulses, dairy, and packaged goods under various brands including its private labels. It also operates in consumer services with retail formats including supermarkets under the Migros and Macro Market banners, an e-commerce grocery platform Migros Sanal Market, cosmetics retail through Mion stores, and a restaurant network under Migros Yemek. Migros runs two meat processing plants with a 100,000-ton annual capacity and a strategic local pulse packaging facility, MİGBAK, supporting sustainable supply chains and local agricultural producers in Turkey. Founded in 1954 and headquartered in Istanbul, Migros has expanded its store network to over 3,700 locations including physical stores and online hubs nationwide. Recent company developments include a significant investment in local pulses packaging with a $6.5 million modern facility, a strategic focus on expanding online sales channels which now contribute substantially to total turnover, and growth in private-label product offerings including the "Tastes of Anatolia" brand highlighting regional culinary traditions. In 2024, Migros achieved 12.1% year-on-year growth in consolidated turnover reaching TL 293.8 billion, improved its EBITDA margin to 5.4%, and increased store numbers by 356 while continuing significant investments in technological infrastructure, logistics, and energy sustainability through solar power generation. The company also enhanced its supply chain efficiency and expanded its omnichannel retail model, tapping into evolving consumer preferences for affordability and convenience. Migros Ticaret operates within the organized retail and fast-moving consumer goods sectors, targeting a broad demographic across urban and suburban regions in Turkey. It maintains strong ties to local producers and agricultural cooperatives, reflecting a commitment to sustainability and local economy support. The company is majority-owned by AG Anadolu Group Holding and Anadolu Endüstri Holding and continues to evolve as a dominant player in the Turkish grocery retail market while innovating through digital transformation and new service offerings. Its operational footprint extends through comprehensive store formats, online platforms, and integration of new services such as electric vehicle charging stations and last-mile delivery, positioning Migros as a progressive and diversified retail conglomerate in the region.
