Matthews Asia Innovators Institutional (MITEX) is the institutional share class of the Matthews Asia Innovators Fund, a high-conviction, all-cap equity mutual fund that seeks long-term capital appreciation by investing primarily in companies across Asia ex Japan that the investment team deems innovative in their products, services, processes, business models, management, use of technology, or approach to creating, expanding, or servicing markets; the fund emphasizes structural growth themes in sectors such as disruptive technology (including AI, cloud computing, and Internet of Things), e-commerce, financial advisory services, online entertainment, leisure and entertainment, innovative drugs, future mobilities (such as electric vehicles and carbon neutrality), and others like fintech, modern retail, and SaaS; portfolio construction typically features 40 to 60 holdings selected through a proprietary evaluation framework assessing secular growth, moat durability, innovation (qualitative and quantitative metrics like R&D spending and patents), quality (sustainability, governance, and capital allocation), and valuation (DCF models, multiples, and peer comparisons), benchmarked against the MSCI All Country Asia ex Japan Index.
