Business
Kawan Renergy Berhad is a Malaysia-based engineering solutions provider and investment holding company specializing in the design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of industrial process equipment, process plants, and renewable energy infrastructure. Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia, the company operates through principal subsidiaries including Kawan Engineering Sdn. Bhd., Kawan Green Energy Sdn. Bhd., Kawan Environmental Sdn. Bhd., and I Precision Sdn. Bhd. The group conducts its business through three primary segments: Industrial Process Equipment and Process Plants; Precision Engineering; and Renewable Energy and Power Generation. The company's core product and service portfolio encompasses the custom engineering and fabrication of industrial process equipment, including pressure vessels, shell and tube heat exchangers, industrial boilers, gasifiers, atmospheric storage tanks, distillation columns, reaction vessels, paddle dryers, and mesh belt dryers; the design, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) of turnkey process plants for food and beverage processing, oleochemical manufacturing, chemical processing, and industrial waste recovery; renewable energy and energy-efficient power generation solutions, including biomass power plants, biogas power plants, combined heat and power (CHP) cogeneration systems, trigeneration systems, and combined-cycle power facilities; advanced energy storage systems, including battery energy storage systems (BESS) and thermal energy storage (TES) solutions; precision machining, metal fabrication, industrial blasting, and protective coating services primarily supporting the oil and gas sector; and independent power producer (IPP) operations involving the commercial generation and distribution of electricity and industrial steam. Kawan Renergy serves domestic and international industrial clients across sectors such as oleochemicals, food processing, oil and gas, industrial chemicals, power utilities, and data infrastructure. While its primary engineering and fabrication facilities are situated in Malaysia, the company delivers engineering solutions to multinational corporations and clients domiciled across Malaysia, Singapore, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Key clients include Dialog E&C, Technip Energies, Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Mitsubishi Chemical, and Oleon. In recent strategic and operational developments, Kawan Renergy completed its initial public offering (IPO) on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia in May 2024, raising approximately RM33 million to fund capital expenditure, operational expansion, and working capital requirements. Expanding its presence in high-growth infrastructure sectors, the company secured a RM70.37 million contract in April 2026 to supply critical diesel generator systems for a major data centre development in Peninsular Malaysia. In August 2026, the company obtained approval from the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) to build and operate a 2.5-megawatt biomass power plant in Tasek, Perak, under Malaysia's Feed-in Tariff (FiT) scheme. These initiatives complement earlier major project awards, including a RM38.81 million EPCC contract from Gas Malaysia Energy Advance Sdn Bhd in July 2025 for a gas turbine cogeneration system in Port Klang, and a RM58 million subcontract secured in August 2024 for EPCC works on a 52-megawatt power plant in Sipitang, Sabah.
