Roundhill Video Games ETF (NERD) is an exchange-traded fund that provides investors with targeted exposure to the global video games industry by tracking the performance, before fees and expenses, of the Nasdaq CTA Global Video Games Software Index; the index focuses on exchange-listed companies primarily engaged in video game publishing and development, including game developers that design and create video games and publishers that finance and distribute them; the fund invests at least 80% of its net assets in such video games companies, excluding those domiciled in China or Russia, with top holdings including AppLovin Corporation, Nintendo Co., Ltd., Roblox Corporation, Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., and Electronic Arts Inc. The ETF features a gross expense ratio of 0.50%, quarterly rebalancing, and options trading availability. NERD operates globally, with holdings spanning companies listed in the United States, Japan, South Korea, Europe, and other regions. Launched on June 4, 2019, and sponsored by Roundhill Investments LLC, headquartered in New York, the fund was originally named the Roundhill BITKRAFT Esports & Digital Entertainment ETF prior to a name change and strategy shift effective September 26, 2022, to emphasize video games software over broader esports and digital entertainment. In September 2025, Roundhill announced a major strategic transition for NERD, shifting from passive index-tracking management to active management and relocating its primary listing from Nasdaq to Cboe BZX, effective after market close on September 30, 2025, to enhance flexibility in portfolio construction amid strong sector momentum, including a new 52-week high reached in September 2025 driven by gains in holdings like AppLovin.
