In recent developments, Ecobank has actively strengthened its capital structure and accelerated its digital transformation through strategic capital market transactions and partnerships. The group expanded its institutional funding base with the issuance of a 400 million dollar five-year Eurobond in late 2024, followed by an additional 125 million dollar tap issuance in early 2025, alongside the launch of a 250 million dollar private placement of Additional Tier 1 contingent convertible notes to optimize Tier 1 regulatory capital under Basel III frameworks. To scale its digital ecosystem and cross-border trade facilitation, Ecobank formed a strategic technology alliance with Google Cloud to integrate artificial intelligence and predictive analytics across its banking operations, and established cross-border payments partnerships with global fintech infrastructure providers including Thunes and Nium. Additionally, the bank entered strategic trade agreements with Bank of China and XTransfer to streamline China-Africa trade settlements, partnered with Afreximbank to power the Ecobank Single Market Trade Hub in alignment with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and signed a cooperation agreement with AGRA to scale climate-resilient lending to African agribusinesses.
