Business
PACCAR Inc is a global leader in the design, manufacture, and distribution of light, medium, and heavy-duty commercial trucks, primarily marketed under the Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF nameplates. The company’s core products include over-the-road and off-highway trucks and advanced diesel engines. PACCAR also provides comprehensive aftermarket parts sales and distribution through its PACCAR Parts division and offers financial services through PACCAR Financial Services, which includes full-service leasing, truck and trailer financing, and insurance to customers and dealers in 24 countries. Additionally, PACCAR manufactures industrial winches under the Braden, Carco, and Gearmatic brands, although this unit was recently divested. PACCAR serves trucking companies, independent owner-operators, and other commercial transportation customers worldwide, operating extensively in North America, Europe, Mexico, South America, and Australia. Founded in 1905, the company is headquartered in Bellevue, Washington. Recent major changes at PACCAR include the strategic formation of Amplify Cell Technologies, a battery manufacturing joint venture with Cummins’ Accelera and Daimler Truck, aiming to localize battery cell production in the U.S. with plant construction underway in Mississippi and production targeted to begin by 2027. In late 2024, PACCAR divested its PACCAR Winch business to the Black Phoenix Group, focusing more on its core truck and financial services operations. The company reported strong 2024 financial results with revenues of $33.66 billion and net income of $4.16 billion despite a slight revenue decline from the previous year. PACCAR continues to invest heavily in research and development, capital projects including expanding engine manufacturing capacity, a new engine remanufacturing facility in Mississippi, and electric truck assembly capabilities in the Netherlands. Their parts division opened a new distribution center in Germany and was recognized as a top company for women in transportation for 2025. PACCAR operates through three primary segments: Truck, Parts, and Financial Services. The Truck segment develops and builds trucks for commercial and consumer hauling needs under its flagship brands. The Parts segment provides aftermarket parts and support to dealers and customers globally, featuring technologically advanced inventory management and 24/7 customer service. The Financial Services segment offers leasing, financing, and administrative support for truck purchases and dealer inventories. PACCAR’s sustained focus on innovation, quality manufacturing, and service has positioned it as a leading player in the global commercial vehicle industry across various geographic markets. This comprehensive focus on manufacturing, aftermarket servicing, and financial offerings, combined with recent strategic shifts such as the battery joint venture and business divestiture, underscores PACCAR’s commitment to advancing technology and operational efficiency in the evolving transportation sector while maintaining a strong legacy in heavy-duty truck production and support. The company continues to expand its global footprint and enhance its product portfolio to meet growing customer and sustainability demands. PACCAR Inc was founded in 1905 and is headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, United States. It sells its products through independent dealer networks across multiple continents and invests strategically in manufacturing facilities and innovation to sustain its market leadership in the truck manufacturing industry worldwide. The company reported significant milestones recently, including delivering 185,300 vehicles worldwide in 2024 and celebrating the long heritage of its Kenworth and PACCAR Parts brands.
