- PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGAS.JK) is Indonesia's leading natural gas distribution and transmission company, operating as the gas sub-holding of PT Pertamina (Persero) following its acquisition of a 51% stake in PT Pertamina Gas and subsidiaries in December 2018; it engages in upstream, midstream, and downstream activities across the Indonesian peninsula with limited upstream presence in the United States. The company owns and operates over 10,000 kilometers of natural gas pipelines, covering approximately 96% of Indonesia's national network; it processes and trades liquefied natural gas (LNG); supplies natural gas to more than 2,000 industrial, commercial, household, and transportation customers via integrated pipeline networks, land and sea transportation, and non-pipeline systems including compressed natural gas (CNG); holds upstream portfolios in 11 oil and gas blocks in Indonesia and one shale gas asset in Houston, US; operates two floating storage regasification units (FSRUs) in Lampung and West Java plus a land-based regasification facility in Arun; and provides ancillary services such as fiber optic rentals, construction and maintenance, engineering consultancy, telecommunications, electricity, energy equipment, project management, and operational support through subsidiaries including Pertagas, PGN LNG Indonesia, Saka Energi Indonesia, PGAS Solution, Gagas Energi Indonesia, Solusi Energi Nusantara, and PGAS Telekomunikasi Nusantara. Headquartered in Jakarta since its founding in 1859, PGN primarily serves domestic markets in Sumatra, Java, and other regions with solutions tailored to residential/small businesses, commercial/industrial sectors, power plants, and transportation. In July 2025, PGN strengthens its strategic partnerships by signing a memorandum of understanding with Mubadala Energy (South Andaman) RSC Ltd to jointly develop natural gas resources from the South Andaman Production Sharing Contract, including pipeline infrastructure and LNG options to meet rising demand in Sumatra and Java; this builds on an October 2024 MoU studying the Arun gas liquefaction and regasification facilities, involving subsidiaries Pertagas and Perta Arun Gas to enhance energy security and distribution networks.
