Business
Virtus Duff & Phelps Global Infrastructure Fund Class I (PGIUX) is an open-end mutual fund that seeks capital appreciation and current income through global investments in equity securities of owners and operators of essential services infrastructure companies in the communications, utility, transportation, and energy industries; it employs a disciplined bottom-up investment process focusing on 40-60 high-conviction holdings of quality developed-market companies with high-visibility revenues, above-average dividend payouts, steady cash flows, and earnings growth. The fund invests at least 80% of its assets in dividend-paying equities of such infrastructure firms across three or more countries including the United States, with at least 25% allocated to U.S. securities under normal conditions; key sectors include electric utilities, multi-utilities, oil and gas storage/transportation, rail transportation, airport services, and telecom tower REITs, while top countries of exposure comprise the United States (approximately 57%), Eurozone (16%), Canada (10%), United Kingdom (7%), and Australasia (4%). Launched on June 6, 2008, as part of Virtus Opportunities Trust and subadvised by Duff & Phelps Investment Management Co. -- a listed real assets manager founded in 1932 and affiliated with Virtus Investment Partners, Inc. -- the fund is headquartered in the United States with total net assets of approximately $155-162 million across share classes and a net expense ratio of 0.98% for Class I shares. In recent developments, Rodney C. Clayton, CFA, joined Steven Wittwer, CFA, as co-portfolio manager effective March 1, 2024, enhancing the team's expertise with Clayton's industry experience dating to 2004; additionally, effective January 21, 2026, Class C shares cease new purchases, followed by automatic conversion to Class A shares on January 26, 2026, reflecting a strategic share class reorganization to streamline offerings. The fund targets institutional and high-net-worth investors seeking infrastructure exposure with defensive attributes, inflation-hedging potential from long-term contracts/regulatory agreements, and lower relative volatility compared to broader equities.
