- The Phosphate Company Limited manufactures and trades farm inputs, including single super phosphate (SSP) fertilizer under the Lakshmi brand; crop protection products such as pesticides and herbicides; specialty nutrients; acids including sulphuric acid; and organic compost, primarily serving farmers in India through its manufacturing facility in Rishra, West Bengal. Incorporated in 1949 and headquartered at 14 Netaji Subhas Road, Kolkata, India, the company operates in the fertilizers and agricultural chemicals segment of the materials industry, marketing its cost-effective, nutrient-rich SSP containing phosphorus, sulfur, and calcium as the oldest such producer in Eastern India. In March 2024, the company divested its entire equity shareholding in its wholly owned subsidiary Abhinandan Goods Pvt. Ltd., which it had acquired in 2016 to expand into agro-inputs like plant nutrients, thereby ceasing consolidation of the subsidiary in its financial statements; it reported Q1 FY2026 net profit of Rs. 7.98 million on revenue of Rs. 140.59 million as of June 2025, amid challenges from reduced government subsidies and dry weather impacting sales.
