Business
Invesco Pharmaceuticals ETF (PJP) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to track the Dynamic Pharmaceutical Intellidex Index by investing at least 90% of its total assets in common stocks comprising the index. The fund provides capital appreciation through a quantitative methodology evaluating approximately 30 U.S. pharmaceutical companies based on investment merit criteria, including price momentum, earnings momentum, quality, management action, and value; these companies are principally engaged in the research, development, manufacture, sale, or distribution of pharmaceuticals and drugs across pharmaceuticals (68.85%), biotechnology (26.15%), and health care equipment (5.00%) segments. Top holdings include Eli Lilly & Co (5.34%), Pfizer Inc (5.29%), AbbVie Inc (5.24%), Merck & Co Inc (5.14%), Bristol-Myers Squibb Co (5.03%), Abbott Laboratories (5.00%), Johnson & Johnson (4.85%), and Amgen Inc (4.63%), with the portfolio rebalanced and reconstituted quarterly in February, May, August, and November. Launched on June 23, 2005, the ETF is issued by Invesco Exchange-Traded Fund Trust and managed by Invesco Capital Management LLC, with headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, and listed on the NYSE Arca exchange. It operates exclusively in the United States, targeting institutional and retail investors seeking concentrated exposure to the healthcare-pharma sector with a weighted average market capitalization of $123,432.98 million, a total expense ratio of 0.56%, and assets under management of approximately $277 million. In recent developments, the fund maintained its focus on U.S. equities amid sector volatility, declaring quarterly distributions including $0.2668 and $0.2729 per share, while its portfolio experienced shifts in weighting toward mid- and small-cap pharmaceutical names influenced by market dynamics and index reconstitution; no major acquisitions, partnerships, funding rounds, or structural reorganizations were reported in the last 1-2 years.
