Business
Ponsse Oyj designs, manufactures, markets and services cut-to-length forest machines including harvesters, forwarders, harvester heads, cranes and loaders, dual machines, simulators, information systems such as Opti 5G, and bioenergy products; the company also provides machine control systems, vehicle PC equipment, software and related maintenance services through its global dealer network and subsidiaries. Founded in 1970 and headquartered in Vieremä, Finland, Ponsse operates in over 40 countries across five market areas comprising Nordic countries and Baltics, Europe, South America, North America, and Asia-Australia-Africa, with international sales accounting for around 70-80% of net sales primarily from Northern Europe, Central and Southern Europe, and the Americas. In 2024, the company implemented a new global operating model effective 1 June reorganizing into customer-driven sales and service-focused market areas to enhance competitiveness and efficiency, appointed Janne Loponen as Managing Director of Ponsse Latin America Ltda in February, and saw Epec Oy acquire Bram Engineers B.V. in November 2023 while classifying Russian operations as assets held for sale; additionally, net profit margins improved to 4.8% in recent reporting amid order books of approximately EUR 192-226 million.
