Founded in 1968 and headquartered in Sundbyberg, Sweden, the company offers a comprehensive portfolio including on- and off-camera flashes such as the A-Series (A10, A2), monolights, studiopacks, and smartphone flashes; light modifiers encompassing softboxes, umbrellas, beauty dishes, reflectors, grids, gels, barndoors, snoots, adapters, and special effect tools; air remotes for wireless control; accessories like bags, cases, batteries, chargers, cables, stands, and consumables; and advanced studio solutions featuring automated studios, creative automation tools, light shaping systems, and mannequins via its StyleShoots subsidiary. Profoto operates in over 60 markets globally through dealers, rental companies, and online channels, serving professional photographers, media companies, e-commerce platforms, retailers, and brands in fashion, advertising, and visual content production, with a strong presence in Europe, North America, and Asia. Recent developments include the 2022 acquisition of StyleShoots for EUR 18 million to bolster automated e-commerce photography capabilities; entry into the cinema lighting market in March 2025 with high-powered LED products; launch of a first film production product in Q1 2025; introduction of a new generation of battery-driven compact flashes in June 2025; and three ground-breaking cinema lighting products in June 2025 to expand beyond stills photography.
