Business
Sindh Modaraba is a Pakistan-based Islamic financial institution engaged in the provision of Shariah-compliant financing solutions, asset leasing, and capital investment activities. Floated in 2015 and headquartered in Karachi, Pakistan, the institution operates as a perpetual, multi-purpose modaraba under the Modaraba Companies and Modaraba (Floatation and Control) Ordinance, 1980, and is managed by Sindh Modaraba Management Limited, a wholly owned entity of the Government of Sindh. The company provides non-banking Islamic financial services across Pakistan, serving corporate, commercial, small and medium-sized enterprise (SME), and individual retail clients. Its core product and service portfolio includes Ijarah financing for the medium-to-long-term leasing of industrial machinery, plant equipment, and commercial vehicles; Murabaha cost-plus financing for working capital needs, inventory procurement, and raw material purchases; Diminishing Musharakah arrangements for shared-ownership financing of commercial real estate, corporate fixed assets, and business infrastructure; Salam and Istisna contracts for pre-delivery manufacturing and agricultural commodity financing; Shariah-compliant consumer house financing facilities; and treasury operations focusing on investments in Islamic marketable equity securities and Shariah-compliant money market instruments. In recent developments, the Government of Sindh approved a PKR 2 billion equity injection to expand the institution's capital base and support portfolio scale. Sindh Modaraba also achieved a credit rating upgrade from VIS Credit Rating Company to AA for long-term and A1 for short-term with a stable outlook, supported by rapid expansion in its Islamic financing portfolio, the successful deployment of short-term Murabaha facilities, and sustained asset quality with minimal non-performing exposures.
