Business
PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) is a leading petroleum exploration, development and production company based in Bangkok, Thailand, and founded in 1985 as a subsidiary of state-owned PTT Public Company Limited. The company focuses on crude oil and natural gas exploration and production across over 50 projects in more than 10 countries, primarily in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and the Americas; its core products and services include petroleum, crude oil, natural gas, condensate and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), alongside gas transportation pipelines, jetties, warehouses, and support services through subsidiaries such as PTTEP Services Limited, PTT Digital Solutions Company and PTT Global LNG Limited. PTTEP serves national energy needs and international markets, emphasizing innovation, technology application for operational efficiency and emerging clean energy solutions like carbon capture and storage, offshore wind and hydrogen. Recent developments include the ramp-up of natural gas production from the G1/61 Project (Erawan, Platong, Satun and Funan fields) to 800 million cubic feet per day in 2024; acquisition of a 10% stake in the UAE's Ghasha Concession mega gas project with production starting in 2025; approval for the Abu Dhabi Offshore 2 Project field development plan; a 34% stake purchase in Algeria's E&E Algeria Touat B.V. for indirect 22.1% interest in the 435 million cubic feet per day Touat onshore gas field, expected to close in 2025; and a $450 million acquisition of 50% in the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area's Block A-18 from Chevron subsidiaries in July 2025, alongside securing EPC contracts from SLB OneSubsea for Malaysia field expansions and farm-in agreements with Valeura Energy for Gulf of Thailand blocks G1/65 and G3/65. For 2025, PTTEP allocates a THB 261 billion investment budget to boost production in key Thai fields like G1/61, G2/61 (Bongkot), Arthit and others, while advancing projects in Malaysia, UAE and Mozambique.
