Business
PGIM Strategic Bond Fund Class Z (PUCZX) seeks to maximize total return through a combination of current income and capital appreciation by investing at least 80% of its investable assets in a diversified portfolio of fixed income instruments across multiple sectors, including U.S. government-related securities, mortgage-backed securities, investment-grade corporate bonds, high-yield bonds, emerging markets debt, asset-backed securities, commercial mortgage-backed securities, bank loans, and non-agency MBS; the fund employs an active, flexible strategy that opportunistically allocates based on macro top-down and credit bottom-up analysis to generate alpha and mitigate downside risk, with a portfolio duration of approximately 4.3 years and average maturity of 7.6 years as of late 2025. Headquartered in Newark, New Jersey, and managed by PGIM Investments LLC, a subsidiary of PGIM—the global asset management business of Prudential Financial, Inc.—the fund primarily serves institutional and individual investors seeking multi-sector bond exposure, with total net assets exceeding $1 billion for Class Z shares alone. Originally launched as PGIM Unconstrained Bond Fund, it underwent a significant repositioning and name change to its current form effective February 12, 2019, shifting focus to a more structured strategic bond approach while reducing certain expense ratios for select share classes. In December 2025, PGIM entered a strategic partnership with Partners Group to develop multi-asset investment solutions blending public fixed income expertise—including strategies like Strategic Bond—with private markets offerings in private equity and infrastructure, aimed at providing diversified, scalable portfolios for defined contribution plans, insurance wrappers, and institutional clients. The fund operates primarily in U.S. markets but includes global fixed income exposure through emerging markets sovereigns, foreign government bonds, and international corporates such as those from Colombia, Serbia, Ivory Coast, and Softbank Group.
