Business
IHH Healthcare Berhad operates as Asia's largest private healthcare group and one of the world's leading integrated healthcare providers, delivering a full spectrum of services from primary to quaternary care across over 80 hospitals and facilities in 10 countries including Malaysia, Singapore, Türkiye, India, Greater China, and parts of Europe and Southeast Asia. The company offers comprehensive healthcare solutions encompassing outpatient treatments, specialist consultations, emergency care, routine check-ups, vaccinations, local surgeries, acute treatments, and advanced quaternary procedures; it also provides ancillary services such as diagnostic laboratories, imaging centres, ambulatory care, post-operative rehabilitation, medical education, and hospital project management through its trusted brands including Acibadem, Mount Elizabeth, Prince Court, Gleneagles, Fortis, Pantai, and Parkway. Supported by over 70,000 employees, IHH Healthcare targets upmarket patients, medical tourists, and diverse customer segments in its key markets, with headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where it traces origins to 1974 and lists on Bursa Malaysia and the Singapore Exchange. Recent developments include the acquisition of Island Hospital in Penang, Malaysia, for approximately $900 million in late 2024 to expand its domestic network to 18 hospitals and capture more medical tourism; a mandatory open offer launched in October 2025 to acquire an additional 26.1% stake in India's Fortis Healthcare Ltd alongside preferential allotments in Fortis Malar Hospitals; the purchase of Bayindir Hospitals and six dental clinics in Türkiye; openings and expansions such as Acibadem Kartal and Acibadem Maslak hospitals; launch of a SGD 80 million Innovation Fund with investments in startups like Leo Cancer Care, Belun Technology, Doctor Anywhere, US2.ai, Lucence, and Intellect; and a SGD 5 million Research Grant & Innovation Sandbox programme initiated in March 2025 to foster clinical research in oncology and chronic diseases over five years. These initiatives align with IHH's cluster strategy for organic growth, targeting 4,000 additional beds by 2028, and its active pursuit of value-accretive mergers and acquisitions in Malaysia, India, Türkiye, and Europe under Group CEO Prem Kumar Nair.
