First Trust NASDAQ-100 Equal Weighted Index Fund (QQEW) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to correspond to the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the NASDAQ-100 Equal Weighted Index. The fund employs a full replication technique to track the index, which includes approximately 100 of the largest non-financial companies listed on The Nasdaq Stock Market and is equally weighted across sectors such as technology, consumer discretionary, health care, industrials, consumer staples, energy, utilities, materials, real estate, and telecommunications; the index is rebalanced quarterly in March, June, September, and December. It provides investors with diversified exposure to large-cap growth and value stocks primarily in the U.S., with minor non-U.S. holdings including American Depositary Receipts (ADRs), and trades on Nasdaq with a net expense ratio of 0.55%. Launched on April 19, 2006 and domiciled in the United States, QQEW is managed by First Trust Advisors LP, with a portfolio management team including Roger Testin, Daniel Lindquist, Jon Erickson, David McGarel, Stan Ueland, Chris Peterson, and Erik Russo; the fund is based at 120 East Liberty Drive, Suite 400, Wheaton, Illinois 60187. As of December 2025, the fund maintains total net assets of approximately $1.91 billion, with top holdings such as Warner Bros. Discovery Inc., Micron Technology Inc., Applied Materials Inc., Advanced Micro Devices Inc., and Lam Research Corp., each representing around 1.3-1.5% of the portfolio to reflect equal weighting. In recent developments, institutional investors including Avalon Trust Co. and Qube Research & Technologies Ltd. initiated new positions in the third quarter of 2025, signaling growing interest amid market volatility; additionally, the fund announced a dividend increase as of December 13, 2025, enhancing its appeal for income-focused investors. A special shareholder meeting is scheduled for October 14, 2025, to address ongoing governance matters.
