American Funds Capital World Bond Fund Class R-1 (RCWAX) is an open-end mutual fund that seeks a high level of total return consistent with prudent investment management by investing at least 80% of its assets in a diversified portfolio of bonds and other debt securities, including non-U.S. government/agency securities; corporate bonds, notes and loans; mortgage-backed obligations; U.S. Treasury bonds and notes; and asset-backed obligations. The fund maintains allocations of approximately 38% to U.S. bonds, 53% to non-U.S. bonds and 6% to cash equivalents, with investments across more than 60 developed and developing markets worldwide; it targets institutional and retirement plan investors through its R-1 share class, which features a net expense ratio of 1.57%, quarterly dividend payments in March, June, September and December, and a minimum initial investment of $250. Launched on June 28, 2002, as part of the American Funds family managed by Capital Research and Management Company (CRMC), a subsidiary of The Capital Group Companies, Inc. founded in 1931 and headquartered at 333 South Hope Street in Los Angeles, California, the fund holds over 740 issuers and had net assets of approximately $10 billion as of late 2025.
