Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, the company, formerly known as SunEdison Infrastructure Limited, changed its name to Refex Renewables & Infrastructure Limited in October 2022 and has recently expanded through its wholly-owned subsidiary Refex Sustainability Solutions Ltd acquiring a 51.03% stake in Vyzag Bio-Energy Fuel in December 2024 to enter the compressed biogas segment with initial 3.5 tons per day capacity and plans for four additional plants reaching 1,150 tons per day input and 45 tons per day output by mid-2026; it incorporated LC Infra Solar LLP as a step-down subsidiary in December 2024 for a 150 MW solar project awarded by Maharashtra State Power Generation Co.
