Saab AB (publ) is a Swedish aerospace and defense company founded in 1937, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. It operates globally, serving governments, authorities, and corporations across more than 100 countries, with significant operations in Europe, South Africa, the United States, Australia, and Brazil. The company is organized into four main business areas: Aeronautics; Dynamics; Surveillance; and Kockums. Saab’s product portfolio includes advanced military aircraft systems such as fighter jets and airborne surveillance platforms like GlobalEye; ground combat weapons and missile systems including the Carl Gustaf recoilless rifle, AT4, RBS missile series, and underwater vehicles; electronic warfare, radar, and combat systems; as well as industrial products and services comprising avionics, aerostructures for commercial aircraft, and comprehensive support and service solutions for civil and military aviation. In recent developments, Saab has reported strong financial performance in 2024 with an organic sales growth exceeding expectations and a 22% increase in backlog. The company raised its 2025 outlook, targeting an organic sales growth between 12% and 16% and enhanced EBIT margins. Strategic initiatives include increased investments to expand production capacity and strengthen supply chains to meet rising demand. Saab has also appointed a Senior Vice President of Group Strategy and Technology to drive integrated innovation and advance its strategic growth ambitions, focusing on leveraging technology and exploring potential mergers and acquisitions. Saab continues to secure important contracts such as the June 2025 deal with Sweden’s FMV for aviation manufacturing equipment valued at approximately SEK 2.9 billion. Saab emphasizes software and computing platform technologies as core enablers for its advanced defense and security systems, facilitating complex, interconnected solutions with the ability for continuous upgrades. The company’s Aeronautics division maintains partnerships with major commercial aircraft manufacturers Boeing and Airbus, providing development and production of aerostructures and modification of platforms. Dynamics includes a range of short-range weapons, missile systems, and unmanned underwater vehicles designed for military and civil security applications. Surveillance offers radar systems, electronic warfare, command and control, and combat systems. Saab’s Kockums business focuses on naval defense solutions including submarines and surface ships. Overall, Saab AB represents a comprehensive defense and aerospace supplier with a strong focus on technological innovation, global market expansion, and sustained financial growth, supported by a diversified product range across air, land, sea, and electronic warfare domains and a strategy aimed at expanding market presence and capability through increased R&D investments and strategic leadership appointments.
