Founded in 1806, it operates as the country's largest bank with a wide range of financial products and services including personal banking; rural banking; corporate banking; SME banking; international banking; and government banking. SBI also offers insurance services through subsidiaries such as SBI General Insurance and SBI Life Insurance, mutual fund products via SBI Mutual Fund, and credit card services through SBI Card. The bank caters to a diverse customer base including retail, corporate, and government entities. In recent developments, SBI has launched the SBI Innovation Hub in partnership with APIX, a global financial innovation platform, to foster fintech collaboration and financial innovation. It has upgraded its YONO platform multiple times in 2024 to enhance features for seamless digital banking and integration of various financial products. SBI also partnered with HCLSoftware in 2024 for a five-year digital transformation program to digitally transform customer engagement through advanced AI and data-driven marketing capabilities. Additionally, SBI expanded its international presence by opening new branches and strengthened rural banking by onboarding millions of new customers under government financial inclusion schemes. The bank invests heavily in technology upgrades, including real-time core banking processing and AI-based cybersecurity measures, and allocates significant resources to CSR focusing on education, health, and environmental initiatives. Overall, SBI operates across multiple business segments including retail, corporate, government, and international banking, with a comprehensive range of financial products and digital services. It serves customers in India and globally through a combination of traditional branches, subsidiaries, and digital platforms, maintaining a leadership position in the Indian banking sector with continuous innovation and expansion efforts.
