Salcef Group S.p.A. operates as a holding company in the railway infrastructure sector, specializing in the design, construction, renewal, and maintenance of railway, tramway, metro, and urban mobility networks worldwide. Founded in 1949 and headquartered in Rome, Italy, the group provides integrated solutions including track construction and civil works; slab track systems such as the proprietary FAST ballastless technology; production of railway sleepers, concrete products, slabs for urban transport, and tunnel segments; railway machinery manufacturing and rail grinding; electrification and overhead line equipment; engineering, design, and project management; equipment rental; and maintenance services including diagnostics. It conducts operations across five continents through 18 subsidiaries and branches in nine countries, with key production sites in Italy, Germany, and the United States, serving public bodies and private clients in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and North America. Recent developments include the 2024 mandatory tender offer by Salbid S.p.A., backed by Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners, valuing the company at approximately 534 million euros; acquisition of Colmar Technik S.p.A. in 2023 to bolster railway machinery capabilities; establishment of a public-private company in Egypt in January 2025 for regional railway expansion; commencement of track construction on Egypt's 330 km Alexandria-Marsa Matrouh high-speed line in September 2025; completion of the Riyadh Metro Orange Line in January 2025; and ongoing projects such as Roma Termini track renewal with FAST system and rehabilitation of the Episcopia Bihor-Hungary rail link in 2025.
