Business
SomaLogic, Inc. operates as a protein biomarker discovery and clinical diagnostics company focused on proteomics technology. The company develops slow off-rate modified aptamers, or SOMAmers, which are modified nucleic acid-based protein binding reagents specific to target proteins; offers proprietary SomaScan services, a high-plex proteomics platform that enables multiplex detection and quantification of up to 11,000 proteins in complex biological samples such as plasma, serum, CSF, and urine; and provides SomaSignal laboratory-developed tests for clinical insights across areas including cardiovascular risk, metabolic diseases, liver function, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, and wellness. SomaScan panels are available in custom and disease-specific configurations for biomarker discovery, drug development, and diagnostic applications, serving pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, academic institutions, and government research entities primarily in the United States with global collaborations. Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, SomaLogic functions as a subsidiary of Standard BioTools Inc. following its acquisition in January 2024; in June 2025, Standard BioTools agreed to sell SomaLogic and related assets to Illumina Inc. for $350 million in cash plus up to $75 million in milestones and royalties, building on a multi-year co-development partnership with Illumina for NGS-based proteomic kits to advance multiomics and biomarker profiling.
